Instant Pot Yogurt

When I first got my instant pot I was incredibly intimidated by it and was too nervous to use all of its functions. As I slowly began using it for a variety of dinners and sides my hesitation subsided and it became almost second nature to have it as one of my go-to kitchen appliances. It became so relied on that after having my beloved 8 quart instant pot for just a couple of months, I went ahead and ordered a 6 quart instant pot to join my appliance family.

Having four young children who adore yogurt with breakfast made me step out of my comfort zone and try to make yogurt in my instant pot. The result was some of the best tasting, most loved yogurt the kids have ever eaten. And much to my surprise, it’s incredibly easy to make! It’s become second nature to throw on a batch of yogurt in my weekly routine. And overtime, we have enjoyed adding granola, fresh berries or our homemade jams into our yogurt jars to give it an extra boost of flavour.

After following plenty of American instant pot fan groups, I had to weed through plenty of comments and suggestions when I first started making homemade yogurt in order to find out the Canadian products I should be using. After a couple of not so favourite batches, we finally stumbled upon the recipe that we all really enjoy. For storage, I use 125ml mason jars with reusable white lids rather than the 2 part mason jar lid and ring. The white lid has made it easier for my kids to open the jars themselves.

Below is the process and products we use, to make a perfect batch of our favourite cold start yogurt.
